As at 11 November 2020, in line with Victorian Government directives, the following events/activities are currently permitted in our internal venue spaces (subject to density quotient restrictions):

COVID Safe cleaning surcharge
Due to mandatory COVID Safe cleaning requirements, a $25 surcharge will be applied to each booking. For the larger North Magdalen Laundry this cleaning levy is $200. We thank you for your understanding as we continue to keep our community safe.
COVID Safe Plans for venue hirers
As per Victorian Government directives, it will be mandatory for some hirers and events to submit a COVID Safe Plan as part of the booking process. For all other bookings completion of a COVIDSafe checklist will be required.
Failure to submit a COVID Safe Plan or COVIDSafe Checklist prior to your event will unfortunately result in the cancellation of your booking with cancellation fees applied.
We will provide you with a user friendly template, COVID Safe Venue Hire Guidelines, venue capacity information and links to venue floors plans to help you along your journey in returning to our venues or enquiring for the first time.
These additional COVID safety requirements now form a part of our Conditions of Hire agreement for all events.

Bursaria Fine Foods is the exclusive caterer for the heritage gardens, Rosina Function Space and Courtyard, hosting a range of events from wedding ceremonies and receptions to corporate workshops, Christmas parties, special occasions, life celebrations and family fun days.
The Rosina Function Space is a unique venue offering heritage elegance for your special event; featuring original lead-light windows, polished floorboards, atmospheric high ceilings and exposed trusses. This exquisite space is the perfect canvas for you to add your own personal touch to create a fabulous celebration for up to 280 guests seated or 500 guests for a cocktail style event. Host your wedding ceremony amongst the rolling lawns of the heritage gardens or in the original bluestone Good Shepherd Chapel.
The Abbotsford Convent is the perfect location for a variety of film and photography shoots. We have facilitated a large number of film and television productions, advertising and fashion shoots as well as many artistic projects.
Live streaming and broadcasting. We encourage creatives and arts and cultural innovators to get in touch about using our venues for broadcasting and recording performances and digital presentations.
Family portraits are allowed outside the buildings and on the grounds without prior approval or any fees, however please be respectful of patrons.

Location photo and film shoots must have prior approval from the Abbotsford Convent. To undertake filming or photographic projects at the Convent we require that you read the Filming and Photography Conditions of Hire and complete the Application Form below.
The Abbotsford Convent fosters new ideas and critical thought, providing artists from a diverse range of disciplines opportunities to develop and present new work on-site. Our varied indoor spaces, grounds and gardens are the perfect locations for inspiration, growth and development of new works through which we encourage creativity, collaboration and diversity. Artists, collectives and organisations wanting to present works in partnership with the Convent or seeking opportunities to develop new works are encouraged to contact the Convent’s Producer directly.
