Abbotsford Convent’s Rosina Function Space is a unique venue offering heritage elegance for your special event; featuring original lead-light windows, polished floorboards, atmospheric high ceilings and exposed trusses. This exquisite space is the perfect canvas for you to add your own personal touch to create a fabulous celebration for up to 280 guests seated or 500 guests for a cocktail style event. Host your wedding ceremony amongst the rolling lawns of the heritage gardens or in the original bluestone Good Shepherd Chapel.

Filming & photography

Abbotsford Convent is the perfect location for a variety of film and photography shoots. We have facilitated a large number of film and television productions, advertising and fashion shoots as well as many artistic projects. 

Live streaming and broadcasting. We encourage creatives and arts and cultural innovators to get in touch about using our venues for broadcasting and recording performances and digital presentations.

Family portraits are allowed outside the buildings and on the grounds without prior approval or any fees, however please be respectful of patrons.

Programming & partnerships

Abbotsford Convent fosters new ideas and critical thought, providing artists from a diverse range of disciplines opportunities to develop and present new work on-site. Our varied indoor spaces, grounds and gardens are the perfect locations for inspiration, growth and development of new works through which we encourage creativity, collaboration and diversity. Artists, collectives and organisations wanting to present works in partnership with the Convent or seeking opportunities to develop new works are encouraged to contact our Programming Team.

COVIDSafe Plan

To ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone, we’ve made some changes to accommodate the current Victorian Government Directions. This includes the following measures:

  • Implementing the Victorian Government’s mandatory QR Code check-in for all persons  to the precinct.
  • All persons (ages 12 and 2 months over) entering the Abbotsford Convent Precinct must be fully vaccinated in accordance with Victorian Government Directions, unless a lawful exemption applies.
  • Reducing our precinct and venue capacities, based on current density quotients.
  • Practicing and promoting physical distancing.
  • Wearing face masks when applicable, including when indoors.
  • Regularly cleaning high-traffic and high-touch areas.
  • Providing hand sanitiser stations along paths of travel.
  • Displaying posters and floor markings with health and safety guidelines around the precinct.
  • We are closely following all Victorian Government Directions and will continue to update our procedures as necessary.

Record keeping continues to be an important tool for helping Victoria stay safe and stay open. Please check-in to the Convent precinct upon arrival. And if you visit particular cafes, retailers, studios or venues within the precinct, you’ll need to check-in there too.

Vaccination status.

All persons (ages 12 and 2 months over) entering the Abbotsford Convent Precinct must be fully vaccinated in accordance with Victorian Government Directions, unless a lawful exemption applies.

Visitors will be asked to show their vaccination status when checking-in to the precinct as well as any other venues you visit such as cafes, retailers, studios or spaces within the precinct.

When to stay home.
For the safety and wellbeing of everyone, you must not visit the Convent if:

  • you feel unwell or if you are displaying any of the COVID-19 symptoms as identified by the DHHS.
  • you have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days or are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test.
  • you are required to quarantine or self-isolate by the DHHS.
  • you have been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days before your intended date of visit.

Come together, but keep apart.
Please stay 1.5 meters away from anyone you don’t live with whenever possible, and follow the guidance provided by our staff and precinct signage. You’ll find patron limits at the entrance to bathrooms, indoor venues, lifts and dining areas.

Be squeaky clean!
Practise good hygiene by washing your hands regularly with soap, using hand sanitiser, and sneeze or cough into your elbow or a tissue.

Wear a mask.
A fitted face covering is required to be worn in accordance with Victorian Government Directions, unless a lawful exemption applies. Visitors are encouraged to carry a mask at all times and to wear this when physical distancing cannot be maintained. Please be aware that some members of the community may have issues with wearing masks due to health conditions. We ask that you be respectful to others as reasons for not wearing a mask are not always obvious.

Pay with card.
Contactless payment methods are strongly encouraged, so please bring a credit or debit card for any on-site purchases.

And remember!
As an arts and cultural precinct, we are required to follow the current Victorian Government Directions. We reserve the right to deny you entry, or ask you to leave to minimise the risk to others if you appear to have COVID-19 symptoms, or you do not comply with Victorian Government Directions.
