ACF Turns 20!

Celebrating 20 years.

In 2004 the Abbotsford Convent Coalition fought to save the Convent from commercial redevelopment and won.

This mighty movement was marked by the Abbotsford Convent Foundation being handed the keys to the Convent by the Victorian Government, providing the community with a special place to celebrate arts, culture and learning.

20 years later, Abbotsford Convent remains at the heart of a creative community. Memories are created here. Moments are celebrated here. Momentum is harnessed here.

Melbourne Design Week 2024

Melbourne Design Week is coming to the Convent!

An annual program of talks, tours, exhibitions, launches, installations, and workshops that champion design. Abbotsford Convent has been selected as a hub for this year’s celebrations, with an innovative program of free and low-cost events to share with you.

We've got news.

Abbotsford Convent is thrilled to announce the Maggie Maguire Residency in honour of Abbotsford Convent’s first CEO, Maggie Maguire OAM .

This 10 year commitment has been made possible by a generous gift from The Patagorang Foundation, founded by Roger Allen AM and Maggie Gray. The Abbotsford Convent Studio Residency, Maggie Maguire Residency, is for early career artists who have practised as a professional artist continually for less than 5 years. This inspirational gift will ensure this residency for early career artists continues at the Convent for 10 years.

An exciting announcement...

We’re thrilled to announce that our Artistic Director and CEO Collette Brennan has been announced as the recipient of the 2023 Sidney Myer Performing Arts Awards – Facilitators Prize.

The Facilitators Prize recognises contributions to the performing arts by individuals and organisations who operate in support roles behind the scenes.

We are proud to congratulate Collette on this incredible recognition, and thank the Sidney Myer Fund for their leadership and generosity in recognising the arts in this and so many other ways.

We also congratulate fellow recipients Lucy Guerin Inc (Group Award) and Jane Harrison (Individual Award). Incredible achievements all round!
