Since Cello Yoga began at Abbotsford Convent in July 2023, Conrad Hamill and Michelle Li have welcomed over 1,000 participants into their warm and ever-growing community.
For this special large-scale event, Conrad and Michelle present Cello Breathwork Immersion — a two-hour experience combining guided breathwork, gentle embodied movement, and a live cello soundscape, designed for over 100 participants to come together in the atmospheric Abbotsford Convent space of The Laundry.
Beginning with grounding and accessible breath practices, the session guides participants into deeper relaxation and presence, before moving into gentle movement designed to soften the body, release tension, and support nervous system regulation. Conrad performs live throughout the experience, with a full sound setup designed to fill the space — an immersive musical container that supports the breath journey and invites connection to self and community.
This is an open-level experience with no prior yoga or breathwork experience required. You are welcome to participate seated or lying down for all or part of the session.
A note for regulars — this event is being held in Magdalen Laundry — a larger space to account for this unique offer.
Your own yoga mat.
Any props to support a comfortable position for breathwork (e.g. pillows, bolsters, warm layers).
Comfortable clothing suitable for gentle movement.
A water bottle.
Conrad Hamill is an Australian cellist and composer who has been creating music for mindfulness and meditation since 2019, expanding beyond his classical roots into immersive soundscape performance. He now performs regularly at festivals, in yoga and meditation spaces and at events around the country including delivering a 2020 TEDx Sydney presentation on the connection of the mind, music and movement.
Michelle Li is a yoga, breathwork, and meditation teacher with a background as a psychologist, offering a trauma-informed approach that supports deep nervous system regulation and embodied connection to the many layers of ourselves. Blending breath and gentle movement, she helps participants return to a felt sense of calm, presence, and ease.
