Come and dance and make masks and objects as we create playful rituals to summon Kooks and Spooks through Butoh!
Step inside an imaginative world and experience the Japanese artform of Butoh. Get ready to move, shake and make funny shapes with your body, as we jump headfirst into a world of imaginative spirits.
Renowned performance makers Yumi Umiumare and visual artist Jacqui Stockdale will guide this workshop. Suitable for children 3 — 12 years but all are welcome.
Let’s find Kooks and Spooks and dance together with them!

ButohOUT! is the only creative platform of its kind in Australia focusing on the distinctive art form. With a creative force of Taka Takiguchi (producer) and Yumi Umiumare (artistic director), ButohOUT! has woven its way into the fabric of the Melbourne art scene since 2017 and has built a unique Artists-led creative and laboratory space across Victoria.
