Big Bite Studios is a multidisciplinary design practice led by creative Seo Murphy, working across illustration, ceramics and textiles. The studio is known for its playful, colour-led approach, creating nostalgic, design-driven pieces that bring a sense of curiosity and character into everyday life.

Grounded in slow design principles and ethical making, Big Bite Studios produces small-batch collections of handmade ceramics, printed textiles and curated homewares. Each piece begins in the studio, where ideas are explored through drawing, prototyping and material experimentation, before being developed into functional, tactile objects designed to be used and kept.

Seo’s background spans fashion, textiles, illustration and creative direction, with a practice shaped by both industry experience and long-standing collaborations with small, family-run makers across Australia and Asia. These relationships inform the studio’s commitment to thoughtful production, transparency and respect for craft.

Working from their Convent studio, Big Bite Studios invites visitors into the process of making. The space operates as both a working studio and retail environment, where ceramics are hand-thrown on site, textiles are developed and printed, and new ideas are continually taking shape.

Alongside its studio practice, Big Bite Studios hosts regular workshops in ceramics, textiles and illustration, offering hands-on opportunities for people to engage with creative processes and reconnect with making. At its core, the practice champions colour, play and the belief that you’re never too old to be creative.
