Talking to Ourselves: Why Make Art?
Join current exhibiting artists Sarah McConnell and Bridget Nicholson for an open discussion about the role of art in such a critical time for the environment.
As part of ART+CLIMATE=CHANGE 2019 festival, Sarah McConnell's exhibition ‘Here Today -Defending the Takayna/Tarkine’ and Bridget Nicholson's ‘Endangered – In danger of…’ at St Heliers Street Gallery explore ways of drawing attention to a rapidly changing environment and the human role within this.
One question common to both is how to best reach and connect with new audiences and spark the kind of understanding and action we need to see. Is the gallery really the right place to present this type of work, and how can we harness the power of art as a vehicle for change?
