Fringe Furniture 33
From the reassuringly practical to the confusingly obtuse, Fringe Furniture has seen it all.
A boundary-pushing showcase of cutting-edge design, this is no Ikea showroom (though you may get equally lost and find yourself with a plate of Swedish meatballs). Think Kramer’s coffee table book about coffee tables, only the book is made out of coffee tables, and the coffee table is made out of books. And those books are about coffee tables. Inception.
Through the different elements of design – lighting, furniture, tableware, sculpture, and other unimaginable things – Fringe Furniture 33 celebrates our individuality and our differences, while acknowledging the things that bind us together.
Established as an experimental playground, Fringe Furniture is a standout exhibition of emerging and market-ready design and has provided a platform for artists and designers to exhibit their work for 33 years, making it one of the longest running design events in Australia.
