Dancing in Space, Dancing in Community
Don't miss internationally recognised choreographer, dance movement therapist, founder of Global Water Dances and Artistic Director of Global Site Performances, Marylee Hardenbergh, for a workshop in learning how to direct a community-based performance or movement choir.
For dancers, dance movement therapists, and anyone involved in movement, dance events, or movement rituals, learn about the overlapping concepts of dance therapy and site-specific performance.
Hardenbergh uses ‘Space Harmony’ in the development of large and small groups for healing dances / community events / site-specific performances. This and other forms are used as creative tools for all dancers and movers, and offer an easy use of structure for both teachers and therapists. The skills learnt and development of the workshop over the weekend, will culminate in creating a site-specific event performed at a place chosen with the participants. This will take place on Sunday 21 January 2018 at 4.45pm. Dancers coming to join in with the performance only, meet outside the Rosina Auditorium. Workshop participants need to bring a change of clothes with you for the performance. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join in, but only if you wear all white.
The two-day workshop is recommended for anyone involved in community dance for pleasure, recreation and general wellbeing. Anyone interested who is not attending the workshop is very welcome to come to and be a part of the performance.
