Convent Made Pop-Up Shop now open!

We are thrilled to announce that the Convent Made Pop Up Shop officially opened last week.

Thank you to all those that attended our launch event – we had a great time, and our Board Chair Gillian Franklin very much enjoyed the opportunity to meet some of the Tenant community. For those that couldn’t make it, we look forward to seeing you around the shop to enjoy the work of your fellow Convent tenants while doing a little shopping!

If you would like to volunteer your time in the Shop, please add your name to the roster below. This helps the Convent continue to give 100% of proceeds to the many awesome artists involved as well as providing you with direct access to our many wonderful visitors who love hearing directly from Convent based artists, creatives and practitioners.

Welcome Annie Ingram

Moving into the Writers Wing on Level 2 of the Convent BuildingAnnie Ingram is an independent non-fiction writer and humanitarian practitioner, who recently completed a Varuna Writing Fellowship with ArtsNT.

As part of her fellowship, Annie published an academic writing surrounding Aboriginal disaster resilience in the NT and on the relevance of humanitarianism in Australia. She is currently working on a collection of personal essays, as well as a contemporary true crime story, which recently sent her on a three-month research trip to Afghanistan.

We are thrilled to welcome Annie to the Tenant community, and keen to see what great works come out of her new studio!

Jess Lyons: Anhedonia

Jess Lyons’ first solo show of ceramic sculptures is informed by the process of recovering and ‘making her way back’.

Architecturally informed slab-built sculptures, repetition and surface treatment, has been led by a parallel process of personal internal discoveries, narratives and a means of using art practice as therapy.

The exhibition offers up a dialogue of progression through holistic approaches to recovery of health and art practice – revealing an excavation of a personal landscape made visible and tangible in geometric, physical monuments.
