We're currently on the lookout for volunteers to assist with our Asia TOPA events.
The Asia-Pacific Triennial of Performing Arts returns to celebrate the creative imagination of artists and cultures in the Asia-Pacific region. At Abbotsford Convent, we will be presenting many events and volunteers are required to assist with a variety of tasks including installing and painting artworks, event assistance, supervising exhibitions, directing and greeting patrons.
Dates and roles
2 – 3 shifts across:
- 10 – 15 Feb & 17-20 Feb, 10am – 6pm OR 10am – 2pm OR 2 – 6pm
Huru-Hara is a dive bar and installation space that will unfold with performances througout the festival, from 20 February – 1 March. We are looking for volunteers with an interest in visual art and/or set design to help us create this living artwork. Volunteers will assist artists with installing and painting artworks and the bar and collecting recycled materials from around town. This will involve some heavy lifting.
- Thursday 27 February, 6 – 9.30pm
- Friday 28 February, 4.30 – 11pm
- Saturday 29 February, 4.30 – 11pm
- Sunday 1 March, 4.30 – 8pm
Double Delicious is a storytelling and culinary experience where five public figures share the stories behind the dishes that have proven significant in their lives. Volunteers will need to be comfortable and capable with food service as they will be carrying trays of food and serving meals onto tables.
When It Rains (I feel like eating Jeon)
2 shifts across:
- 20 – 23 February & 27 February – 1 March, 10.45am – 3.15pm OR 3 – 7.15pm
When It Rains (I feel like eating Jeon) is a sound installation inspired by the story of a Korean elder in Ansan, who takes a walk everyday to the place where the sea used to be. This work considers the solvent connections between site, sensation and memory, and the routines that we associate with these. Volunteers will help to supervise the exhibit and provide information to patrons.
