Keep it Green: Re:vive

Keep it Green: Re:vive.

The impact of COVID-19 has been one of the most challenging issues we’ve faced in the Abbotsford Convent’s history—with the precinct closed to the public for 305 days since the pandemic began. The knock-on effects following the devastating impacts of operating through the world’s longest COVID-19 lockdown have hit us hard—and the sustained support of our community continues to be a lifeline.

As we forge our way forward into this next chapter of repair and recovery, your generosity is helping us recalibrate and revive.

The 2021 Keep it Green appeal was about sustaining our organisation as we adjust to the new COVID-normal. Right now, the support of our community is helping to revive the Convent precinct, as Victoria re-opens and we reconnect safely.

We know that for so many of us, access to green open space and community connection will be vital to our recovery after long periods of isolation. The Convent provides this welcoming open space for you—a true Melbourne sanctuary.

However, the steep costs of providing a COVIDSafe environment has been felt sharply by the Abbotsford Convent Foundation (ACF)—especially with the significant drop in the people-dependent revenue that we depend on, due to multiple lockdowns and restrictions.

ACF is an independent, secular, not-for-profit organisation, and our purpose is to protect, maintain and enliven the Convent precinct. As the Convent continues to experience the flow-on effects of significant COVID-19 financial impacts over the last 20+ months and beyond, your support is more important than ever.

ACF aimed to raise at least $50,000 by 31 December 2021 to help the Abbotsford Convent precinct revive through the new COVID-normal. Thanks to the support of so many passionate members of our community, we are thrilled to have surpassed our target.

Your help with the practical year-round essential costs to protect and maintain the Convent precinct—including enhanced COVIDSafe cleaning, buildings and gardens & grounds maintenance, site-wide amenities and services—is of significant benefit right now as we recover.

The Convent has the power to transform lives—through the diverse cultural and creative experiences we offer, and through the extraordinary heritage and natural landscapes of our cherished place.  Your support is helping to bolster the Convent through this chapter of repair and recovery.

Thank you, for giving back to the place that you love, when it’s needed most.
