Keep it Green: Adaptation

Thank you!

Thanks to the amazing support of our community of donors and partners, we are thrilled to have reached the $50,000 fundraising target for our ‘Keep it Green: Adaptation’ appeal! Your generous support helped the Convent adapt our precinct for a COVID-Safe future; helping us protect and nurture our gardens and grounds, and bring more of our arts and cultural programming from the inside to outdoors.

We are enormously grateful to every person who donated, and a very special thanks to Creative Partnerships Australia who matched every donation dollar-for-dollar through Plus1!

We look forward to keeping you updated on the impact of your support over the months ahead.

About the appeal

Our engagement with nature has the power to change how we feel and as we slowly emerge out of lockdown in Melbourne, more than ever we’re craving safe connection with each other, and with the outdoors.

The Convent’s gardens and grounds provide an open and welcoming retreat to so many—an inner-city oasis to connect and to be. Keeping our green open spaces healthy, protected and nurtured, as places for arts and cultural engagement and wellbeing year-on-year is incredibly important to us all.

Right now, we need your support to bring the Convent’s arts and cultural community programs from inside to outside—and to protect our gardens and grounds.

With our gates largely closed to the public since the end of March, it has been an extremely challenging year. The ongoing impacts of COVID-19 restrictions on the Convent’s people-dependent revenue have been devastating.

Your support for the ‘Keep it Green’ appeal will help us invest in sustainable, outdoor-appropriate infrastructure—enabling us to safely connect artists with audiences, and community with each other, in and around nature. Funds raised will also support the ongoing protection and nurturing of the Convent’s gardens and grounds, so they thrive amongst increased arts and cultural activity into the future.

Funds raised through this appeal will:

  • Allow us to purchase sustainable, moveable infrastructure including shade sails, staging, lighting and sound equipment;
  • Adapt our outdoor spaces to make arts, culture and engagement safe and accessible;
  • Support ACF’s gardeners to protect the Convent’s 6.8 hectares of green open spaces throughout the year ahead;
  • Enable safe and creative outdoor gathering in the new COVID-normal; and
  • Support our arts and cultural sector to safely and professionally present outdoor works for the whole community to enjoy.

We are thrilled to have the support of Creative Partnerships Australia (CPA) through the Plus1 program—meaning that every donation to this appeal by 31 December 2020 will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, up to a maximum of $50,000.

Your donation, however big or small, will go towards actively protecting, nurturing and enlivening the Convent’s expansive green open spaces, helping the precinct adapt to a COVID-Safe future so you can connect, recharge and enjoy, 365 days of the year.
