A rare opportunity exists to join Australia’s largest creative community in the unique Mercator Building. Just four kilometres from the CBD, the Convent – with its historic buildings and lush surrounds – has become an inner-city sanctuary for creative practitioners and organisations seeking a peaceful, yet vibrant working environment.
The 49m² studio is located on the upper floor of the Mercator building. The tenancy offers access to shared kitchenette facilities, bathrooms and shower, as well as discounted car parking. Sitting alongside the Yarra Capital Trail, the Convent is also easily accessible on bike or via public transport.
The space would ideally suit practices including but not limited to; fine art painting, drawing, printing, small to medium sculpture and modelling, fashion design/production, small to medium scale wood work, craft and /or textile design and making. This list is not exhaustive, so please enquire if you are unsure about your practice or medium. We strongly encourage applications from creative tenants who have a strong public interface in conjunction with their practice seeking opportunities to participate in Convent Made branded initiatives, including the annual Pop-up Shop, Convent Made tours and Open Studio days or looking to run classes in the studio.
Studio Features: light filled east and north facing windows; wooden floors, hydronic heater one self-contained lockable access door (via a shared entry); modern lighting and multiple electrical outlets.
Onsite you’ll also find an assortment of food options, markets, two galleries, venues, and an extensive program of events and workshops all at your doorstep. With over 100 studios onsite, the Convent is home to some of Melbourne’s finest creatives, organisations and wellbeing practitioners, making this the ultimate place for collaboration and community engagement.
