Light-filled Ground Floor Studio
A rare opportunity exists to join Australia’s largest creative community in the recently refurbished Sacred Heart building. Just four kilometres from the CBD, the Convent – with its historic buildings and lush surrounds – has become an inner-city sanctuary for creative practitioners and organisations seeking a peaceful, yet vibrant working environment.
Ideally sized for independent creative use, this 39m² studio is located on the Ground Floor of the Sacred Heart building. Whilst the studio exits onto a small thoroughfare from the Sacred Heart to the Mercator Building, an entry corridor makes it a private space to enjoy making and creating. The studio features high light-filled east and south facing windows; terrazzo floor, hydronic heater; modern LED lighting, multiple electrical outlets and water outlets.
As part of a ground level hub including a jeweller, ceramist and bag maker, the space would ideally suit a creative practice with a retail component such as fashion design/production, craft and /or textile design, homewares, jewellery, ceramics, leather goods, perfumery. This list is not exhaustive, so please enquire if you are unsure about your practice or medium. We strongly encourage applications from creative tenants who have a public interface in conjunction with their practice.
The tenancy offers access to shared kitchenette facilities, bathrooms and shower, as well as discounted car parking. Sitting alongside the Yarra Capital Trail, the Convent is also easily accessible on bike or via public transport. Onsite you’ll also find an assortment of delicious food options, markets, two galleries, venues, and an extensive program of events and workshops all at your doorstep. With over 100 studios onsite, the Convent is home to some of Melbourne’s finest creatives, organisations and wellbeing practitioners, making this the ultimate place for collaboration and community engagement.
Please select and complete the application form below before the application closing date Monday, 11 November 2019, 9am.
