The Abbotsford Convent Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that has cared for and managed Abbotsford Convent since 2004.
Part of that role involves supporting a vibrant mix of more than 130 tenants across creative practice, hospitality, and wellness, helping ensure the site remains welcoming and accessible every day of the year.
As custodians of this significant public place, we have the privilege of managing the heritage-listed bakery premises, which has long played an important role in the Convent experience.
Across the past 22 years, the bakery has been home to a number of operators, each contributing to the evolving life and character of the site. Its next chapter will continue that legacy as a gathering place offering welcoming food and hospitality for a broad range of visitors.
While we acknowledge the current tenant’s disappointment that the lease will not be extended, our focus remains on the long-term sustainability of Abbotsford Convent as a publicly accessible cultural destination for all.
As the matter is currently before VCAT, we are unable to offer further details at this time.
We look forward to sharing more information about the future of the bakery soon.
