Want to create a soundtrack for an exhibition?! Join BOXY MUZAK!
Work with electronic composers from MESS to create whooshy, gurgling, grinding soundscapes for our new interactive MACCHINA A SCATOLA! Summer art installation!
MESS è Melbourne’s own Electronic Sound Studio with years of experience creating electronic sound. Join in and be a part of the exhibition!
You will:
• Learn about electronic sound and how to use synthesisers
• Create sounds and music inspired by old and contemporary laundries and washing machines
• Enjoy making art in the beautiful surrounds of Abbotsford Convent!
* Be sure to return the Convent in January to listen and dance to the final soundtrack during the live exhibition.
For people aged 6-16 years
MACCHINA A SCATOLA! is a new large-scale and interactive exhibition for children and their adults. Giant, heavy-duty cardboard laundry machines, pipes, cogs and taps, line the Magdalen Laundry ready for children to connect and deconstruct like giant building blocks. Child-created soundtracks run continuously in the background of exhibition.
BOX MACHINE! Exhibition dates:
4 – 25 January 10am–2pm
Closed on Mondays
