Melbourne's festival of independent art

1 — 18 October

The 2025 Melbourne Fringe Festival is a celebration of Action Heroes.

We’re not talking about the kind of hero who wears a cape, and undies on the outside. We mean the kind of hero who understands that change comes from individual action – connecting, building, showing up. This isn’t a festival that tells you what to think. It’s one that invites you to feel, imagine, and most importantly, take action.  So grab your metaphorical cape and join us for the 2025 Melbourne Fringe Festival.

See something. Do something. Change something.

Ngambaa

‘Ngambaa’ (Mother in Gamilaraay) is a duo dance work told through the story of the dhinawan (emu) baawaas (sisters.) After the baawaas go through the fire they return as spirits who time travel to two generations of yinarrs to protect and guide them.
