22 years ago, Abbotsford Convent was saved by the community, for the community.

Out of a seven-year campaign of advocacy, care and collective action, a once-closed site was reclaimed as a living place for creativity, culture and exchange. And from then, a new chapter began.

Ever since, the Convent precinct has become somewhere hundreds come every day to make, gather, learn, connect, and belong. Across our 16 acres of heritage buildings and grounds, more than 120 creatives, organisations and social enterprises call the Convent home, together shaping one of Melbourne’s most loved cultural hubs.

But places like ours don’t sustain themselves. They exist because people choose that they should.

This year, that choice matters more than ever.

With no recurrent government funding and rising costs across our layered historic site, safeguarding the Convent as an open and accessible place for everyone depends on community support.

Be part of something loved by many.
Be part of something made by many.

Be part of something Convent.
