This spring, we welcome you à the Couvent with a very special fanfare: a buzzing meadow of wild spring blooms et beaming blossoms.

This botanical sea of flowers is the creation of celebrated horticulture and landscape designer and author Jac Semmler of Super Bloom Studios. Super Bloom at the Convent is a living installation planted and tended to by students at Melbourne Polytechnic and a team of dedicated garden volunteers.

“There is a creative and wild quality to working with nature in this direct seeding way, which aligns perfectly with the Convent mission and values.”

“Gardening is my art practice as well as my life teacher. Through plants I have found a rich community to be part of. When I garden, I can feel in my hands the generations of plantswomen that came before me.”

– Jac Semmler
Founder, Super Bloom

The seed selection has the intention to lure and delight both pollinators and visitors to the Convent in equal measure. An assortment of perennials and annuals, the colour palette talks to the Convent’s Heritage surroundings, with golden yellow, soft apricot, blondes, mauve lilac, brilliant blue and a pop of floating scarlet.

Watch and admire as nature reveals this dynamic tapestry of seedlings, buds and burgeoning blooms from spring through to autumn months.

Do you share our passion for plants?

Super Bloom works throughout Australia and Internationally on major public realm and small-scale planting projects that delight with their dynamics in dry summer climates.

We’re looking for volunteers to help tend and nurture the wild and wonderful meadow springing up around the Front Gate of Abbotsford Convent, seeded and sown by Jac Semler and the Super Bloom team in readiness for spring and beyond.

Training, tools, protective equipment and refreshments provided. Please note volunteers at the Convent are required to have a valid Working With Children Check. To acquire or update your Working With Children’s Check, please cliquez ici.

If you are keen to volunteer, or have any questions about the application or what is involved in this project, please email info@abbotsfordconvent.com.au
