This July, artists Annie Edney and Iris Marie Bergmann exhibit re-earthing at St Heliers Street Gallery .
Annie Edney
“With this work I offer lively, vivid imagery and ask the viewer to imagine it as an aspect of self that is part of the ever evolving power and complexity of this beautiful biosphere we call home. My motivation is to make strange unrecognisable work not attempting to represent external reality, and intended to lure the viewer into that “other” place where the possibility for new thinking is present.”
Iris Marie Bergmann
“My visual thinking about re-earthing merges with a bodily experience akin to the one of a dancer. It expresses a lived experience of our struggle to protect our connectedness with nature and other species, and our desire for regeneration. The process of the creation of the images itself reflects this also: The burying under the sandstars, the violation of the surface of the paper and the depicted, and the dancers’ movements superimposed onto landscapes.”
