Wominjeka! Hello!
At the Convent we welcome visitors from across the globe – both in-person and digitally. Please note, we use AI to bridge the language gap, so there may be some translation inconsistencies and missed linguistic nuances.
This Winter, Convent Kids returns to serve up a family friendly feast for the imagination.
Settle in to a smörgåsbord of exciting workshops with three experienced and exciting artists in the Convent’s underground gallery: The Store. Use colours and textures to create artworks that celebrate and respond to the cool and wintry light.
Renowned for unique hands-on learning experiences for children, Convent Kids empowers children as co-creators of culture. Our Smörgåsbord workshops give free rein to lively imaginations and experimentation; quality materials and quirky objects.
Three workshops run simultaneously in one jam-packed morning. Sign up for one then table hop to another:
Murals with Nicky Tsekouras: Using paper for colour, stripes and abstractions, kids can slice and dice their artworks together for hanging in space – creating a collective mobile mural.
Print with block-outs with Alice Tsiavos: Piece together transparent and opaque materials and explore ways to block-out light to reveal the shapes, images and words between the cracks.
Papier mâché with David Booth: Experiment with a range of materials to build and make your own version of a batty bat.
