Afro Hub in partnership with Abbotsford Convent present Melbourne African Traditional Ensemble (MATE), supported by DJ Eva Lubulwa. Come and join us a night of music – the type that makes your feet move in magical ways.
MATE was established by acclaimed PBS radio presenter/producer, Stani Goma, with founding members Valanga Khoza, Kofi Kunkpe, Anbessa Gebrehiwot and Haftu Reda.

With a combined musical experience exceeding 80 years, the quartet hail from across Africa –Ghana, Ethiopia and South Africa. Traditional instruments and influences from across the continent meld into an authentic Pan African sound.

Your African odyssey continues with DJ Eva Lubulwa, presenter/producer of RRR’s Highly Melanated, who will take your ears all around the continent and the sounds of the diaspora.

We won’t only satisfy your soul – we’ve got you sorted for food and drinks as well, with a fabulous African-inspired bar.

Afro Hub and Abbotsford Convent Foundation present: MATE as part of Leaps and Bounds Festival.
