Here & Now, under the direction of Michael Beets, presents an innovative live film event made and screened at Abbotsford Convent.
A ‘live cinema’ film crew will collaborate with students to create, shoot, edit and project a brand-new film in real time, resulting in a one-off, live-streamed premiere experienced by an on-site audience. A VIP guest will perform live music as the stream unfurls.
This event is suitable for people aged 16–19— perfect for local arts lovers, families, educators and young creatives.
Here & Now collapse the gap between filmmaking and audience, empowering young people to co-create in real time. By combining hands-on workshops that culminate in to the premiere of a live film experience, they explore immediacy, collaboration and the thrill of discovery.
Students will leave energized, inspired and intimately connected to the creative process—like co-conspirators in a film that can never be reproduced and only experienced live.
Food vouchers, water and travel allowances will be provided.
Students are required to attend all five days of in-person sessions before presenting their works. Session times as follows:
14 & 15 July: 10am – 4pm
16 July: 5pm – 8pm
17 July: 4pm – 9pm
18 July: 3.30pm – 6.30pm
Final presentation: Friday 18 July, 7.30pm
