Following the development of a collection of furniture, this exhibition provides an intimate insight into process, repetition, failure and resolution. Observe the timeline of development to see how each resolved piece informs the next, and how the introduction of new elements challenge each piece that preceded it.
Patrick will be relocating his workbench into the Industrial School for the duration of the exhibition, creating a micro-workshop within it. He will be actively working throughout the exhibition, further developing a new piece to be launched in 2025.
This exhibition serves to display the current body of work, early prototypes and future releases, with a view to exhibit the entire collection upon in its completion next year.
Studio Adeney
A working practice of designer-maker Patrick Adeney. Currently based in Hobart, his work is designed to elevate the space it occupies, treading the delicate balance between form and function.
Since the launch of his studio practice in 2022, Patrick has been refining his fundamental design principles through the development of a collection of pieces made to order. Each piece in the collection has an inert duality whereby creative and critical thinking are visually evident.
The work is made entirely in house, from start to finish. Using a combination of traditional skills and modern technology, Studio Adeney offers exceptionally made pieces designed to be functional, comfortable and compliant to the rigours of a lifetime of use.
Collection in Progress is Studio Adeney’s debut exhibition as a part of Melbourne Design week. Patrick Adeney has previously exhibited in Australia’s Next Top Designer 2022, VIVID Emerging Designer Awards 2023 and was awarded the acquisitive Clarence Prize for excellence in furniture design 2023.
The Industrial School is wheelchair accessible.
