Charmed questions the role of ornamentation within the identity of an object, through a reflection of character, reference and meaning.
Furniture Designer Cam Morgan and Interior Designer Dasha Tolotchkov present a series of furniture objects designed to materialise adornment and ornamentation through levels of detail, finishes and exaggerated techniques.
The exhibition hopes to explore the place of personification and charm between purely sculptural ornamental furniture and the everyday object.
Cam Morgan is a furniture designer and director of Studio Backcountry. His practice is characterised by a foregrounding of materiality, creating objects that are both functional and artistic in nature. By drawing on principle of simplicity, Backcountry’s forms express a softness, clarity and a sense of charm.
Dasha Tolotchkov is a spatial designer and interior architect. Her work revolves around interdisciplinary spatial practice that explores the connection between installation, performance, interior design and costume, with a focus on performativity within the interior.
