A new series of sculptural works by Brad Gunn.

Acerca de

Brad Gunn is a Melbourne sculptor working in a range of contemporary materials and traditional techniques. With influences from science fiction, abstract art and Renaissance sculpture his practice reflects his love for figurative forms and supernatural themes. Focusing on characters and otherworldly themes they present an askew reflection of a known world that feel familiar yet alien.

Brad completed his Bachelor’s degree in Sculpture and Spatial practice at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2005 and has established himself as a maker and artist in Melbourne. He developed his skillset in fabrication after working in film and television as well as creating props and displays for retail windows and museum exhibits

The work is very process driven involving sculpting in oil clay, moulding with silicone and fibreglass and casting with resin and cement. The pieces are either hand painted or coated in velvet fibres that add a soft and tactile surface. Each work can take months to complete and are editioned in multiple colourways.

Brad was recently a finalist in The Wyndham Art Prize, The McClelland Maquette Award and the Sorrento Art Prize. Brads work “Eggplant is for Everyone” won the 2024 Deakin Contemporary Small Sculpture Award.
