This collaborative disco combines music, movement and play to cultivate an expansive view of the natural world, ultimately fostering deeper empathy, understanding and a sense of awe, always. CLUB COMPOST seeks to reframe ideas of ‘us’ and ‘community’ to include the biosphere through compost-inspired experiments in play and possibility.

About the artists
Daniel Newell / DANDROGYNY
Daniel Newell (DANDROGYNY) is a physical theatre practitioner, dancer, maker, performance artist, educator and graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts. Cat-walking the fine-eyeliner of the pop cultural and political, Daniel’s work can be defined as creatively chaotic and cathartic. Recent work includes Creative Resident at Footscray City College (Creative Workers in Schools – Regional Arts Victoria) and Abbotsford Convent (Pivot 2) and Chunky Move x Warrnambool Art Gallery / They are currently Lead / Inclusion Artist of Drama & Embodiment at St Martins Youth Theatre Company and Physical Theatre at The University of Melbourne, Victorian College of the Arts. Having performed in over twenty countries, highlights include working with ABC’s – You Can’t Ask That, Melbourne Festival, Melbourne Museum, Dance Massive, Arts House, Sydney Opera House, Bollywood Film, Opera Australia, Honcho Disko, Dark MOFO’s Blacklist Party, Broken Heel, Gaytimes Festival, SWAY, Circus Oz, All the Queens Men, Shelley Lasica, Deanne Butterworth, Joel Bray Dance, Phillip Adams Balletlab, Rafael Bonachela and Kylie Minogue.
Emma Maye Gibson / Betty Grumble
Emma Maye Gibson (Betty Grumble) is a Sydney based performance artist. Largely through the avatar/war mask/love letter/critter of Betty Grumble she engages her body as a medicinal site of performative catharsis, often in a genre smash of ritual physical theatre, cabaret, performance art and multi-media. She is a proud eco-sexual and believes in the spiritual powers of live space. She has her Master’s in Fine Arts/Arse and has presented work at Dark Mofo, The Sydney Opera House, Glastonbury, Edinburgh Fringe, Perth and Adelaide Fringes, The Melbourne Comedy Festival, The Festival of Dangerous Ideas, Belvoir St Theatre, The Bearded Tit, Berlin Fringe and beyond. She believes in the flesh riot and is currently engaged in developing a new work under the guidance of mentor Annie Sprinkle in her world-saving trilogy of performance ceremony.
