COVID-19 update: postponement of indoor events in our venues
21 Mar 2020
Indoor Events Postponed or Cancelled in the Convent’s Venue Hire Spaces For Now
The Abbotsford Convent wishes to advise that as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) emergency, we have postponed all upcoming indoor events scheduled to be held in the Convent’s venue hire spaces, until further notice. This decision was made based on the latest government directive which implemented a cap of one person per four square metres (4sqm) for all indoor venues/spaces, effective 20 March 2020.
If you have booked to attend an upcoming indoor event or workshop at the Convent, the organiser of that event will contact you to discuss next steps. Some events scheduled for this weekend (21 – 22 March) will take place in modified spaces.
We are saddened by the need to postpone or cancel events for now, and understand that this is very disappointing for our visitors, but the health and safety of our entire community must come first.
Visiting Onsite Cafes and Restaurants
The Convent will provide an update via our Facebook page and website as soon as we can regarding next steps for onsite cafes and restaurants in response to the latest social distancing directive from the Federal Government. Please stay tuned, and we thank you for your patience.
Visiting Individual Studios and the WellBeing Wing
Many studios within the precinct currently remain open with some adjustments to operating hours, activities and practices in line with guidance from health authorities. Please check in with individual practitioners for the latest details.
Visiting the Convent’s Gardens and Outdoor Spaces
The Convent’s gardens and open outdoor spaces remain accessible at this time. This is because visitors have more control over enacting social distancing measures in these settings – we urge all visitors to take measures to protect the health of themselves and others when visiting.
Keep Abreast of Our Latest Updates
The Convent is constantly monitoring and implementing the advice of the Australian Government Department of Health, the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services, and other relevant government authorities about this rapidly changing public health situation.
We will continue to provide updates via the Convent’s Facebook page and on our website – please continue to check in for the latest advice before planning your visit.
If you have any questions regarding this update, please don’t hesitate to contact us at email@example.com, but we do ask for your patience as we work our way through enquiries and questions at this time.
Thank you for your support, and please take care of yourself and each other in these challenging times.
