Music in the Round

Music in the Round is one of the Convent's signature classical music events, bringing the precinct's unique spaces to life with outstanding performances.

Music in the Round launched in 1972, with celebrated violinist Paul McDermott and the Australian Musicians’ Guild creating the event to showcase Australia’s leading chamber musicians. After debuting at Monsalvat and then moving to Werribee Mansion, it was relocated to the Abbotsford Convent in 1977. For nine years, Music in the Round delighted audiences with an innovative program that featured spectacular concerts set within historical spaces. Marking the tenth birthday of the Abbotsford Convent Foundation (ACF), Music in the Round was brought back to the Convent in 2014.

Music in the Round 2019 was proudly supported by The Angior Family Foundation, The Bowness Family Foundation, 3MBS, Kawai and the Convent Bakery.

If you’re an arts organisation, or an educational organisation with an arts and cultural focus, and believe that you have a program suited to a partnership or collaboration with the Convent, please feel free to get in touch with the ACF Producer, Natalie Smith.
