Melbourne Fringe at Abbotsford Convent
The Abbotsford Convent Foundation (ACF) proudly presents contemporary arts and cultural work across all art forms. We work collaboratively with artists and in partnership with other arts and cultural organisations to attract diverse audiences, creating new conversations and new ways to engage with our unique, multi-use site. Our audiences love our non-traditional spaces and are engaged with work that encourages new ways to think about art and the world.
The ACF is proud to be a long-standing partner of Melbourne Fringe; a highlight on the annual arts and cultural calendar. In their own words, Melbourne Fringe is a big, bold (and gloriously messy) celebration of independent art, which, in our words, makes Fringe the perfect partner for us!
Abbotsford Convent – Home of Fringe Furniture
The ACF’s partnership with Melbourne Fringe sees Fringe Furniture held annually at the Convent. Each year, thousands of people come to our unique spaces to see brilliant design by some of Australia’s most interesting and innovative designers. Fringe Furniture will be held from 14 September to 1 October 2017. Registrations will open later in 2017.
Melbourne Fringe 2017 – Hold Your Work at the Convent!
Each year, hundreds of artists take over Melbourne’s streets, venues, clubs and even its lounge rooms for Melbourne Fringe. This year, the Convent is proud to be among those venues, in addition to our Fringe Furniture venues. Whether you’re making your Fringe debut, or you’re a seasoned professional, we have an abundance of outdoor spaces (and a limited number of indoor spaces), ready to be activated by contemporary arts and cultural work across all art forms.
We invite expressions of interest for projects that will surprise, delight and intrigue our audiences, inviting everyone from art-lovers to curious visitors to get hands-on.
As most of the designated spaces are outdoors, the projects need to be adaptable for exterior spaces, and must consider the weather.
Whether you’re ready to go and just need some space, or you have great partnership opportunities which you’d like to discuss, just shout out!
And if you need any more incentive for holding your Fringe project at the Convent, we have a small but passionate team who can help with marketing and basic logistics; as Australia’s largest multi-arts precinct, we love what we do, and we love to help.
