Rotunda Restoration Celebration
Celebrate the reopening of the Convent’s historic rotunda in our stunning heritage gardens with choir performances, great food and a fun atmosphere as we count down to the end of 2017!
11am: Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony with the Convent-based Wurundjeri Land and Compensation Cultural Heritage Council Aboriginal Corporation, followed by speeches
11.30 – 1pm: Live choir performances including the Pasefika Vitoria Choir, Melbourne Georgian Choir and Sue Johnson's Combined Forces.
Adding to the celebrations will be delicious Korean street food from the award-winning Ghost Kitchen food truck, and fantastic food from all of your favourite Convent eateries.
The West Wind Collector Market will also be taking place at the Convent, offering the perfect opportunity to stock up on handmade Christmas presents from more than 20 local makers.
The restoration of the heritage rotunda was made possible thanks to public donations for the Convent’s ‘Restore the Rotunda’ fundraising campaign held earlier this year, together with matched funding from our generous partner, the Copland Foundation, and support from Victoria’s Heritage Restoration Fund.
Thanks to our community’s generosity, this beautiful space – which has been a place to rest, read, congregate and contemplate for more than 100 years – will once again become a place to sit and enjoy our gardens, and experience a range of engaging arts and cultural programs.
The Abbotsford Convent Foundation sincerely thanks everyone who donated, along with our major partner on this project, the Copland Foundation, for directly playing a part in helping to restore this important piece of history as a place for rest, retreat and recharge for everyone to enjoy – now and for future generations to come.
