Rock & Roll Writers Festival
Get your rock and roll on at the Abbotsford Convent, as top musicians, writers and artists discuss their work, and how music and literature influence each other at the Rock & Roll Writers Festival.
This is the first year the Brisbane-based Rock & Roll Writers Festival has gone on the road for a tour edition, and Abbotsford Convent is proud to be the festival’s new home-away-from-home.
Rock & Roll Writers Festival is Australia’s first and only literary festival devoted to exploring and celebrating the creative spark between music and writing.
Featuring some of Australia’s preeminent singer-songwriters, poets, musicians, label heads, music journalists and more, the Rock & Roll Writers Festival offers a unique insight into the creative process from Australia’s best writers and raconteurs.
On Sunday 9 April, Abbotsford Convent is hosting four panel discussions featuring a selection of speakers from this year’s Brisbane festival, plus select speakers from the 2016 program.
Music Feeds described last year’s event as, ‘bursting with passion and not pulling any punches, there was enough information coming out of the events 12 panels to fill a novel of its own…’.
Last year’s Brisbane festival featured the likes of Deborah Conway, Don Walker, Jess Ribeiro, Hoodoo Gurus front-man Dave Faulkner and Bluejuice’s Jake Stone, with the same calibre of artists and writers set to attend the Melbourne festival this year.
The lineup for the Melbourne leg of Rock & Roll Writers Festival will be announced in early March.
