July School Holiday Program
Abbotsford Convent’s School Holiday Program is back with a kick! From Monday 30 June – Friday 11 July, the program will offer an assortment of eclectic, electric and energetic workshops facilitated by Convent creatives.
This time round, the Abbotsford Convent will be offering full-day workshops, with greater diversity and a Lunchbox option for busy parents.
Available Every Day Except Monday 30 June and Wednesday 2 July
During the program, Abbotsford Convent is offering a 1 hour supervised lunch break for busy parents. Hungry children will get a sandwich or dinner roll, a chocolate chip cookie, juice box and healthy vegetable snacks courtesy of the Convent Bakery. Vegetarian and gluten free options available.
Must be booked by 2pm the day before / $20 per day
Pizza Making with the Convent Bakery
Monday 30 June or Wednesday 2 July, 10am – 12pm
Learn how to make a scrumptious wood fired pizza with the Convent Bakery and then eat it for lunch!

wePUBLISH with Kids’ Own Publishing
Tuesday 1 or Thursday 10 July, 9am – 3pm
Participants will visit acclaimed children’s authors and illustrators in their Abbotsford Convent studios, learn writing and illustrating techniques, create artwork for their book, and publish a digital version and a hard copy, eight-page origami book. Hurry, there are only 5 iPads available to borrow or you can bring your own.

Making Beaded Jewellery with Katheryn Leopoldseder
Friday 4 or Tuesday 8 July, 10am – 12pm
Choosing from a variety of colourful beads, children will make their very own earrings, necklaces or bracelets and will take home their fabulous creations.

A Book of Me with Pip Lincolne of Meet Me at Mike’s
Friday 4 July, 1 – 3pm
A collage and book creating workshop; kids can make a book devoted to all the things they are interested in – their strengths, their friendships, family and more. The idea is to talk about who we are, make a physical representation of that and to encourage healthy creative habits.

Shadow Puppetry with Annie Edney
Wednesday 9 July, 10am – 12pm
Kids will learn how to make a shadow puppet from drawings and create a shadow play. After a little rehearsal, the show will be filmed so that after the workshop budding puppeteers can watch their play on YouTube and show their family and friends!

African Drumming with Mohamed Camara
Monday 30 June or Tuesday 8 July, 1 – 2pm
Explore the colourful and exciting culture of Guinea, West Africa, through djembe and dun dun drumming, singing and African dance. No prior musical experience is necessary, just an interest in beats, rhythm and fun!

Mayibuye Dance Forum
Monday 7 July, 9.30am – 3pm
Introduce your kids to ballet, jazz, hip hop and cultural dancing in an all day workshop ending with a showcase performance for family and friends.

Introduce dance to your kids early with a 1 hour workshop for ages 5 and under, and give them a taste of ballet, yoga, circus and hip hop.

Using Art to Express Yourself with Melbourne Art Therapy Studio
Wednesday 2 July, 1 – 4pm
Participants will learn to recognise, legitimise and express feelings by exploring a variety of art materials and will work individually, in pairs and in a larger group. Facilitated by an ANZATA registered Art Therapist.

Hula Hoop Dance Stars with Magdalena Whirly Bird

Become a Hula Hoop Dance Star! Kids will learn 12 amazing hula hoop tricks and play some exciting hoop games while rocking along to everyone’s favourite tunes.

Circus Stars! with Magdalena Whirly Bird
Thursday 3 July, 1 – 3pm
Come and run away with the circus! Kids will learn 16 amazing circus tricks; from hula hooping, juggling, trick sticks, rhythmic ribbons and acro balance. Every student takes home a special Circus Star certificate to say they’ve completed circus training and will perform for their family at the end of the day.

Circus Stars Presents 'Make, Play & Perform' with Magdalena Whirly Bird
Wednesday 9 July, 1 – 4pm
Roll up roll up! The circus is in town! Make your very own set of three juggling balls to take home in a cute little drawstring bag. Then begin your dazzling circus adventure.

Get Crafty with Candy Sparkles
Friday 11 July, 10am – 4pm
A fantastic day of arts and craft, boys and girls can choose from range of activities such as creating loom bands, origami, mobile making, French knitting and more! Kids will leave with a screen printed 'Candy Bag' filled with goodies from the day and tools to keep on makin’!
